Travel To Galveston

Airports and Flights:

For some of the out of town guest, getting to and from Galveston may be a bit confusing.  Galveston is a small barrier island off the coast of Texas, and about an hour drive from Houston.  There are a few options to get to and from the island from the two major airports in Houston.  Hobby, HOU, is the closer of the two airports, by about an hours drive.  Bush/Intercontinental, IAH, is further, but may have a more convenient flight schedule.

Continental Airlines has a hub in Houston Intercontinental/Bush Airport (IAH)  For direct flights that are relatively inexpensive, Continental is a good airline to fly.

From the airport:

-Airport Limousine Services cost $45 from Hobby and $55 from Bush.  This service leaves every few hours from each airport, check the schedules to make sure this option works with your flight.

Driving Directions:

Quick Note:  The Houston AIA is hosting their annual sandcastle competition in Galveston on June 5th.  Although the drive to Galveston from Houston is usually an hour, it may be prudent to give yourself additional time, in case traffic to the Island is bad.
